Here's just a little information to tell you more about me. I grew up in Colorado and graduated with a BA in English from the University of Colorado in Boulder. At that time I took several psychology related classes. However, life took me on another journey when I moved to California where I initially taught school. I married and raised 2 children. My fascination with psychology and the human condition resurfaced and I pursued a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Sierra University. I graduated in 1986, interned with Dr. Taylor Hartman and obtained my California Marriage and Family license in 1988.
I have continued to keep abreast of recent developments and studies in the field, including educational studies in cognitive therapy, mindfulness and its affect on the brain and many other seminars.
Many life transtions and challenges were experienced during both pre and post licensing. These events have been the most helpful in shaping how I work. I feel that to be an attentive and present therapist, you must have experienced your own challenges and growth. I believe both the educational studies and personal development help me reflect my clients growth in a nonjudgmental and safe way.
